The Mbagathi River, a major tributary of Athi River, starts as springs and streams in the Ngong Hills/Embakasi and Dagoretti/Thogoto Forest Blocks. The Karinde Village is next to the Thogoto Forest. Despite having many sources of safe water for domestic use, many of the villagers suffer from fluorosis, a condition that is caused by drinking water with unsafe levels of fluoride.A visitor to the village may be puzzled about how people with easy access to safe water could be suffering from a condition that is normally associated with people in areas with acute water scarcity which then forces the residents to sink boreholes to access water. This DVD contains the story of Karinde Village and why a combination of political goodwill, ignorance and negligence has resulted in the devastation of several generations of this Village.SWEET, CLEAR AND LETHALSuffering in Silence
